In couple of preceding articles, we saw the use of swastika as the good luck symbol in Native American greeting cards. In all those articles, we saw just the use of swastika symbol. There were no quotes or very simple one liner good luck wishes. In this article, we will see the swastika symbol on postcard having beautiful messages as sonnets or poems. This will help you in not only understanding the significance of swastika symbol but also in sending good luck messages to your friends, lover, wife, father, relatives etc.

Below is the greeting card I have chosen first because it first explains the symbolism of swastika and then proceed with the good luck wishes and blessing. The poetry on the above postcard introduces us to the "ancient cross" as a symbol of "fortune's reign" and sends the recipient blessings.

Postcard from 1910

There are series of good luck swastika wishes in Victorian postcards. These Victorian postcards were release between the years 1908-1918. Most of the Victorian postcards had swastika on each end of the postcard with decorative border designs and a good luck message surrounded by beautiful florals, leaves and flowers.

OOPs!!! The messages are not visible in the above image. Actually, that is how I got it. But in one of the postcard I have (among the above ones), message is very clear where the sender edria says “I wish you all your wishes are fulfilled”. Golden color swastika at each corner and vivid colored flowers bursting out of envelope makes the cards eye-catching and attractive.

Next Victorian card combines the anticlockwise swastika with sweet looking berries and leaves, plus a snowy country depicting a perfect holiday destination. Sent New Year wishes in all Sincerity - where the swastika stands for good luck

Below is another Victorian card with a candy colored anticlockwise swastika on the right bottom corner to wish health, happiness and prosperity to the receiver. String embossed Golden edges and bouquets of flowers certainly give the message of getting well soon.

Next is another Victorian card which shows a golden clockwise swastika with a beautiful red rose to address love and affection.  Fancy stylish written Shakespeare quote surrounded by attractive leaves makes the greeting card more pleasing and beautiful.

Next is the birthday greeting card where a beautiful tilted swastika having an awesome house in background along with a touching quote is used to express love and affection to the recipient.

A very simple greeting card to wish New Year. On the top is the creamish swastika surrounded by leaves and bouquet of flowers. At the bottom is the image of the snowy county town while in the middle is the New Year wishes.

Next is the greeting card dated 1907, says swastika as the good luck sign of Navajo, Pima and Apache Indians. Clockwise red swastika is shown on top of the colarado flower to express love, affection and well wishes.

Next is the colorful friendship greeting card with attractive blue and pink flowers with quotes of Charles dickens written in fancy bold letters. On the right is the golden good luck symbol swastika.

Next greeting card is very similar to the above one. Only difference is Charles dickens quote is replace by Shakespeare quote and swastika is shown on the left hand side.

This is the antique greeting card wishing happy birthday to loving dad. Dark creamish swastika with luck written explicitly symbolizes good luck and prosperity. View of Country side and beautiful flowers makes this greeting card more comely and appealing.

Red Indians of America used swastika as the good luck symbol and pronounce it in the same way like every Indian does. Surprising fact is that some claim Red Indians to be descendants of Asian Tribes who millenniums of years ago entered America through the Behring strait though the date is not known when that happened since our recorded history covers only three to four thousand years.
In below greeting card, you can see a young cute girl hanging down the good luck sign swastika in golden clockwise direction. On the left is the birthday message for the recipient.

Next is the greeting card sent by some lover to her girl friend dora. Even today, this card looks magnificent and refreshing. You can see a transparent clockwise swastika in the background surrounded by lively pinkish flowers and a message of love on the right side.

This looks like a friendship greeting card having a nice sonnet to convey the message of friendship and trust. Unlike other postcard, this card of year 1961 gives a glimpse of Montana states like great falls of Yellowstone and state flower of Montana. On right side of the card, there is a reddish clockwise swastika to represent love.

Postmarked Denver dated Aug 17, 1920; this greeting card is very similar to the above one. This greeting card also has bunch of leaves and flowers along with the golden swastika to dedicate the message of good luck and prosperity

Below is another greeting card with good fortune wishes to the recipient. Like most of the greeting card, this card also has multi-colored rose flowers, leaves and golden colored clockwise swastika

Next greeting card having plenty of attractive flowers conveys the message of good luck and prosperity to the recipient. On the right is the clockwise golden swastika, the symbol of good luck and prosperity.

In next greeting card you see a cute Native American girl saying good luck wishes to the recipient.  On the left hand side, you can see two good luck symbols, swastika in red color and horse shoe surrounding the swastika. A nice way to wish happy birthday and long prosperous life

Conclusion:
This article is intended to reclaim the lost significance and importance of humanity earliest symbol ‘Swastika’. Swastika is derived from the Sanskrit word “svastika”- "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. Swastika signifies the symbol of good luck, prosperity, peace and fortune. After its association with German Nazi party, this ancient symbol has faced a sad transition from a good luck symbol to symbol of evil and adversity. Swastika is still widely used as a good luck symbol in Asian countries like India, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia etc. This symbol has a great spiritual meaning and significance in Hinduism and its derived religions like Buddhism and Jainism.
